Meredith Harris, Viola
Meredith Harris, a native of North Carolina, currently lives in Houston, TX where she enjoys performing and teaching her growing Suzuki violin/viola studio. Meredith received her Suzuki violin teacher training under Joanne Bath at East Carolina University where she also received her Bachelors of Music performance degree. In 2006 she graduated from Rice University with her Masters of Music in viola performance under the tutelage of James Dunham. Since graduation Meredith has enjoyed performing with various ensembles including the Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, River Oaks Chamber Orchestra and the New World Symphony. Meredith is a founding member of the Quartus Chamber Players which was established in the summer of 2010. She has also been invited to perform at various festivals across the United States some of which include Tanglewood, the Grand Teton Music Festival, Spoleto, Kennedy Center, Four Seasons Next Generation Concert Series, Las Vegas Music Festival, and the North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Program. During the summers Meredith spends time on staff with the Texas Music Festival at the University of Houston as Chamber Music Coordinator. In the summer of 2009 she was selected as a Shinichi Suzuki Scholar and spent two weeks in Stevens Point, WI continuing her Suzuki viola training. She also teaches and performs at the North Carolina Suzuki Institute in Greenville, NC and the SEVA Suzuki Workshop in Chesapeake, VA.
